Dear Friends and Neighbors,
A big WOOO HOOO to the great turnout for the June Book Club....18 strong! It just goes to show that Natomas continues to be a reading community. In fact, we are jumping on the ONE BOOK SACRAMENTO train a little early. The Natomas Book Club will read & discuss The Soloist by Steve Lopez as the July Book Club selection. So get a jump on the rest of Sacramento and be ready for all of the ONE BOOK SACRAMENTO events coming in September including a chance to meet the author.
Karen Thomas and I were given the opportunity to take a walk-through of the new North Natomas Library; it was thrilling to see years of hard work coming to a completion. As far as the facility is concerned, it has been (for the most part) sealed and interior painting has started. It is a "green" building and relies on ambient light for much of the daytime lighting which keeps the facility cool. The bump out clock tower area at the front of the building houses the Friends of the Library store. Karen and I spent a few moments of wishful thinking as we looked at the space. The Grand-opening date continues to be listed as January 2009. We will keep you posted on any changes.
