Dear Friends,

Just a quick reminder that our last Friends Board Meeting of the year will be this coming Tuesday, November 11th, and it will also be the last time that I will Chair the Board Meeting as President of the North Natomas Friends. On January 13th we will vote in the 2009 Friends of the Library Board. It has been my pleasure to serve as either Vice-President, Co-President or President over the course of the last three years. I want to thank all of you who have participated in the events that the Friends of the North Natomas Library have provided and I look forward to working with you in the future. We have 3 positions open at this time:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • Publicity Chair

I plan to run for the currently vacant position of Treasurer and continue as the Webmaster for our group. I would encourage you...the community...to join us on the Board. We have the Grand Opening of the new Library to plan for and look forward to.

We will be discussing Chapter 5, "Library 2.0" from "The Thriving Library" at the end of our meeting. To access a preview of this book, click here.

Freedom's Sisters

The Sacramento Public Library is providing our community with an incredible opportunity to view a Smithsonian Exhibit that will not be available to any other west coast city....Freedom's Sisters (Sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund). This exhibit offers the citizens of Sacramento an extraordinary opportunity to view the lives of 20 truly phenomenal women who have provided inspiration to us all. For links to this exhibit, check out our FREEDOM'S SISTERS page.

The Library is coming!

Construction has begun on the site of our new library. You can access up-to-date information on the construction on the Sacramento Public Library construction site for the North Natomas Library by accessing this website link:

http://www.saclibrary.org/new_projects/nnt.html.

It includes Library Fact sheets, Timelines, a description of the concept behind the library, and an updated construction filmstrip. A more complete series of construction photos can be accessed from the North Natomas Library Shutterfly site.

Would you like to see what will be coming your way in 2009? You can click here for a PDF version of the final floor plan...or you may drop by the North Natomas Library to view interior and exterior elevations...including information on interior colors and library furniture.
